Concrete Egress Window Cutting Miami

Concrete Egress Window Cutting Miami

Converting a garage, basement, or enclosed utility space into a legal sleeping area in South Florida requires strict adherence to the Florida Building Code (FBC). Every bedroom must have a designated emergency escape and rescue opening. Concrete Cutting Miami, LLC acts as the execution partner for General Contractors and residential remodeling firms. We do not use impact breakers that fracture exterior stucco or compromise load-bearing walls. We utilize high-torque, hydraulic diamond saws to cut perfectly plumb, laser-straight egress openings to your exact architectural specifications.

The AdvantageCode-Compliant Structural Modifications

As a specialized subcontractor utilizing tools like the 20-inch Wolverine hydraulic hand saw and Weka core drills, Concrete Cutting Miami ensures every egress window opening meets strict FBC standards without compromising your timeline or the structural integrity of the surrounding masonry.

01

FBC Standard

We cut rough openings to a tolerance of +/- 1/8th of an inch, ensuring your impact window installation passes fire marshal inspections smoothly.

02

Lintel Integrity

We work strictly to engineer’s drawings for new door or window openings, and never sever concrete until shoring is confirmed active.

03

Waterproofing

By using chain sawing for corners, we avoid "over-cuts" that lead to hurricane-season water intrusion and spalling.

MethodologyThe 5-Phase Extraction Protocol

Cutting a clean, perfectly plumb opening for an egress window requires more than just brute force. Our step-by-step approach guarantees precision, safety, and a completely zero-dust environment for indoor residential retrofits.

01. Verification

We verify architectural dimensions and confirm your contractor's structural shoring plan is active.

02. Core Rigging

Using center-point core drilling, we secure anchor straps to support the block mass during the cut.

03. Hand Sawing

Our high-torque hydraulic hand saws create flawless vertical and horizontal lines for the egress perimeter.

04. Extraction

The severed concrete section is mechanically lifted and safely lowered, protecting your interior floor slab.

05. Site Cleanup

We provide full demolition haul-away and high-suction slurry vacuuming for zero-dust completion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you install the window or just cut the hole?

We specialize exclusively in the concrete cutting and removal. We cut the opening to the exact rough dimensions provided by your window manufacturer. This allows you (or your General Contractor) to install the buck, frame, and window itself, saving you the markup of a “full-service” window company.

Do I need a permit for an egress window?

Yes. In Miami-Dade and Broward, modifying an exterior wall requires a permit. You will likely need a structural engineer to determine if a header (lintel) is needed to support the wall above the new opening. We perform the work according to those permitted plans.

What about the lintel (header)?

Most concrete block cuts require a pre-cast or poured lintel to be installed above the opening to support the roof load. While we do not perform masonry work, we often work in tandem with your contractor: we cut the opening, and they immediately install the lintel and shore up the wall.

How much mess will there be inside my house?

Cutting concrete creates dust and slurry. However, we use “wet cutting” methods to trap dust at the source and plastic sheeting to protect your room. For interior retrofits, we take extra care to keep the job site clean.

How long does it take to cut one window opening?

Typically, we can cut and remove a standard-sized egress opening in a concrete block wall in 3 to 4 hours. Poured concrete walls with heavy rebar may take slightly longer.
